Valladolid was founded in 1543 by conqueror Francisco de Montejo, On top of the ancient maya city Zaci. The city is know as the " La Sultana del Oriente" (the east sultan) because of the majestic magnitude was protagonist of the caste wards, mexico was most exposed dramatic in Mexico's History. The city is full of cultural colonial structures, majestic historical buildings and fine colorful homes is full of tradition, artisan and gourmet.
Valladolid is located about 160 kilometers from Merida and 40 kilometers from Chichen Itza(pyramid) in the east of Yucatan. Is about 30 Meters above sea level, located about 158Km from Cancun. It Boarders wonderfully around the Chichen Itzan, Tizimin, Piste, Coba, Chemax, Ek balam, Temozon and Chichimila. Is Known as the most convenient point to the peninsula of Yucatan.
The climate is characterized by the region being humid, and rainy summer days. The temperature is about 25.7c, average by the winds from the south and north.
The city of Valladolid, has a wide biodiversity, thanks to the humid warm climate, Developing great fauna and flora. The area is consider low jungle. Valladolid is rich in vegetation.
You can find from white tail deer's, monkeys, coati, different species snakes, iguana, jaguars, tepezcuintle, partridge, grove squirrels and more.
By the results from Census population and dwelling INEGI, Valladolid has a population of 68,863 people, in witch 34,832 are women and 34,031 are men. Occupying the 3rd place in the 106 municipality, in the state of Yucatan according to the people and the mexican municipalities represents 0.0667% of population in Mexico country.
According by the results of INEGI, the population from 5 years and on catholic upgrade from the 42,323 people. As the rest of population declares not to be catholic, leaning to other religions as christians or Jehova witnesses, figures that keep increasing.

In Valladolid there is cenotes renowned by their beauty of there clear crystal waters. The most famous are: El Cenote Zaci locaded in the center of the city and Cenote Szitnup, Illuminated by a ray of sun light. Both have excellent installation for the security and comfort of the visitor.
The women make a simple Hipil, with colorful embroidery makes the dress to highlight the neck and edges with a background and sandals footwear. The gala suit in women is the Tern, ready-made with fine fabrics using fine lace and embroidery made by hand completely with long gold necklace and earrings, coral rosaries or watermark and a rebozo de Santa Maria. They dance a traditional dance (Jaranas) making competencies with participants. Each year on june, 3rd they celebrate "Primavera Chispa de la Revolucion", Spring simulation in revolutionary forces.
In October they celebrate the "Gremios de los Patrones de la Iglesias y de los Officios" Guilds like shoemaker, musician, butcher, drivers, etc.. according to the saint of devotion of the group in Valladolid where they go to the church of the town San Gervasio. There food is prepared mainly with corn, pork meat, chicken accompanied with salsas made with chiles habaneros. You can taste yucatense dishes like los Lomitos, la longaniza, el escabeche Oriental, el frijol con puerco, chaya con huevo, puchero de gallina, queso relleno, salbutes, panuchos, pipian de venado, papadzules, cochinita pibil, joroches, mucbipollos, pimes y tamales.
The traditional candy is Yucca with honey, pumpkin sweeten, sweet potato with coconut, pumpkin seed marzipan, arepas, tejocotes with syrup. Typical drinks are Xtabentun, Balche made with anise, Pozole made with coconut, Horchata made with rice and corn Atole the refreshing drink of the region.
