History
Oxkutzcab means "free land", "instead of 3 wild turkeys", or "place of Ramon snuff and honey".
Founded by Xiu Maya group in pre-Hispanic times after he left the city state of Mani, part of the chiefdom of Tutul Viu Mani.

Geography
Is located in the southern state of Yucatan. Ticul bordered on the north St.Helena, south Tekax, Akil the east, west with the state of Campeche.
Its average height above sea level is 33 meters. Covering an area of 512.23 square kilometers.

Climate

Biodiversity Flora

Demographics and Religion
According to data from the INEGI and 2010 census, Oxkutzcab has a population of 29.325 inhabitants, of whom 70% are inclined to the Catholic religion.

Economy
The region is famous for its production of citrus.
The cultivation of orange, tangerine, grapefruit, and lemon has been the basis of the municipal economy.
Other fruits such as mamey, avocados, mangoes and bananas. Its also characterized by its cultivation of snuff.

Culture
From 10 to August 16 carried out the "Fair of Orange" around the main square of the municipal seat is installed stores and organizes dances.

Gastronomy

The former convent of St.Francis of Assisi XVIII century; The Ermita of the Virgin Pilar XVII century; The chapel of St.Stephen XIX century and the former Hacienda of Tabi.
It also has archaeological Sayil, Labna, Xlapac, Kom, Kiuic, Oxkutzcab and Sabacche.
