IZAMAL

Historical
Itzmal Izamal Mayan, meaning: dew of heaven, is a beautiful colonial town founded in the mid-sixteenth century on the ruins of an ancient Mayan city.

Geography
Located 72 miles east of Merida in the north central region of the state.
It has an average height of 13 meters above sea level. Covering an area of 275.92 square kilometers.
It boarders the following municipalities: to the north Telal Venegas and Tekanto Tepakan, south to Xocchel, Kantunil and Sudzal, esat and west Tunkas Honctun.

Climate

Culture

Gastronomy

The desserts are: yuca con miel, calabaza melada, camote con coco, cocoyol, melcocha, arepas, tejocotes en almibar or dulce de ciricote.

The desert alone Izamal traditional drinks are: Xtabentun, balche, bebida de anis, pozole con coco or horchata.

Attractions
